Avicenna Tajik State Medical University (ATSMU) is a public university in Tajikistan. Established in 1939, it is located in the Capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, and is named after Avicenna. It is managed by the Ministry of Health and is the only higher medical education facility in Tajikistan preparing medical personnel for the country. It is one of the oldest medical universities that started the MBBS program in Tajikistan for Local and International students. There are 5 Departments in Tajik State Medical University,

The Avicenna Tajik State Medical University offers a five-year General Medicine Program in Tajikistan, which includes a final year of Clinical rotations. A General Medicine degree is globally recognized, and Foreign students are eligible to apply for the Medical licensing Examinations for USMLE, PLAB, GMC, AMC, and PM&DC.

The General Medicine (MD) Program at Avicenna Tajik State Medical University costs 5,000 USD annually, including tuition and hostel fees. Hostel rooms are from two to four sharing (depending on availability). Mess Facility is also available for international students. Mess charges are approximately 500–600 USD per semester..

Admission Criteria:

International students must have a minimum grade of 60% in senior high school (HSSC), WAEC, or A-levels to be eligible for the MBBS/MD program at Avicenna Tajik State Medical University. The age limit to apply is 32 years.

Global Recognition:

Avicenna Tajik State Medical University is approved by the WHO and listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS). It is approved by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC), and the National Medical Commission of India (NMC).

It is also approved by ECFMG, and foreign graduates holding a General Medicine (MD) Degree from Avicenna Tajik State University are eligible to apply for the medical licensing examinations for USMLE, PLAB, GMC, AMC, and SLME.

The Avicenna Tajik State Medical University (ATSMU) has 796 faculty members working in 63 chairs across its four faculties: medicine, dentistry, pharmaceuticals, and public health. The faculty includes many highly professional scientists, and the university trains a large number of students, including both domestic and international students from over 15 countries

In Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan, living expenses are relatively low and affordable compared to other countries. The living cost per month for international students is about $150 to $200. But if a student wants to stay on Campus, it’s much more economical for international students. The campus hostels are furnished and secure. There is availability of separate hostels for female students as well. Pakistani and Indian Halal food is easily available on and off campus.
