What is the March Intake?
The March Intake (Spring Intake) is the second admission cycle offered by selected medical universities in China. The Spring Intake generally start from 1st November and continue until Mid of February.

Note: The dates for each intakes vary depends upon the University and each university has its own requirement and deadline for accepting the international students.
MBBS Course Duration:
The MBBS (English taught) program for the September Intake would be 6 years programs, 5 years of Medical studies and the 6th year would be Internship year in the affiliated Hospital of the University.
While for March intake the MBBS programs would be of 6.5 years, 5 months of Chinese language program or foundation program depending upon the university, 5 years of MBBS Course work and last 6th year would be internship year. The Criteria is for the 43 MOE -Listed Universities offering MBBS (English taught) program with English as their legal medium of instruction.
Clinical Medicine Course Duration:
The Clinical Medicine program for both the September and March intake would be 6 years programs the first year would be Chinese language program and mandatory to clear the Chinese Language Test to promote in 4 years MBBS Program, and the last year would be the Internship year.
While some Universities offers March intake for clinical Medicine program with 6.5 years, initial 4-5 months also includes Chinese Language program. The Universities are just offering march intake to fill their seats and it is no worth to do extra Chinese language Course in such Universities as students are suppose to do Chinese language and clear test again in first year to be promoted in MBBS course work.
Admission Criteria:
The following are the admission requirements for foreign students applying to study the Bachelor of Medicine in Surgery and Bachelor’s of Medicine in Science (MBBS) in English at universities in China.
- IELTS or TOEFL is not required for the MBBS program in China.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 60% to 70% grades (depending on the selected school) in senior high school/grade 12, WAEC, or GCE A-levels.
- The age limit to apply for a MBBS program in China is 16-25 years, and in very few schools, it’s also 30.
- Apply before the deadline every year.
- Students are required to own a foreign passport that is valid for a minimum of one year.
- The student or guardian must submit a bank statement showing a closing available balance of at least $5000.
- The University’s admission office can conduct a brief interview on WeChat or Dingtalk (Depends on the Universities’ requirement).
