A brief history:

Faculty of Medicine, Turkestan State University  (1919-1931). On September 7, 1920, a decree set in motion the merge of the Faculty of Medicine with the State University.

Between (1921-1924) and (1924-1926), Professor KG Khrushchev and Professor MI Slonim were heads of the faculty of Medicine. During these years, the technical base and quality of clinical studies improved significantly. In 1922, a class of 27 students graduated from the medical faculty. In 1923, the faculty of medicine grew to 973 students, and among them 425 female students. In between 1930-1990, Tashkent state medical institute was formed.

In 1990, First and Second Tashkent State Medical Institute were established. In March 1992, the first branch of the Tashkent State Medical Institute Urgench branch was established. As well, in the city of Fergana, at Fergana State University, a Sanitary and Hygienic Faculty was created. Later this center became a branch of the Second Tashkent State Medical Institute.

Important Points to read !

  • Air Ticket is not included in Fee Package, Student will buy One way air ticket to Tashkent by themselves.
  • Student will pay Embassy Fee or Visa on arrival fee by themselves.
  • Student will pay the First Semester Fee on arrival in U$D. Fee once paid will not be refunded.
  • Student will pay 2nd Semester’s Fee according to the university policy when they will ask.
  • Student will pay the Residence Permit fee from 2nd Semester to onward by themselves.
  • Student will follow the policies & rules of College & Ministry of Health Uzbekistan.
  • Pakistani, Bangladeshi & Indian Students will follow the Policy of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council, Bangladeshi & Indian Medical Council’s Policy Respectively.

How to Apply in Tashkent Medical Academy !

Admission Criteria & Visa Requirements:

Admission & Visa Process is almost same for all the MBBS in Uzbekistan universities for international students. Tashkent Medical Academy are accepting international students for MBBS/BDS degree program 2 times in one year.

  • Fall intake (September-October)
  • Spring intake (January-February)

MBBS/BDS students arrival time in TMA Uzbekistan is October or November & classes starts soon after the deadline of registration.

First Step – Registration:  Admission letter process: (Charges = 100$)

We will provide official receipt of registration fee to the student. Tashkent state medical institute issues the admission letter in normally 3-7 working days. Student will submit the following documents to us for admission letter.

  1. Fresh photo with white back ground
  2. SSC/O Levels Document
  3. HSSC/Intermediate or A Levels Document
  4. CNIC or Form B

Eligibility Criteria:
Students having Minimum 60% Marks in Fsc/Grade 10+2 or A-Levels are Eligible for MBBS/BDS admission. Age Limit to apply for Tashkent Medical Academy is 30-32 years.

2nd Step – Visa Letter: Visa Invitation Letter Process: (Charges = 200$)

We will provide official receipt of visa letter fee to the student. Visa invitation letter issues by Uzbek Foreign Ministry which can takes 20-30 days normally (or depends). Student will submit the following documents for Visa letter.

  1. Passport First page Scan
  2. Fresh photo with white back ground
  3. SSC/O Levels Document (attested by foreign office)
  4. HSSC/Intermediate or A Levels Document (attested by foreign office)
  5. CNIC or Form B
  6. Police Clearance Report
  7. Medical Check up Report by DHQ Hospital

3rd Step – Embassy Procedure and Visa:

We will guide the student how to prepare the documents for the visa processing by the Uzbek Embassy. Student will pay the Embassy fee by themselves.

4th Step – Arrivals:

After getting student Visa  student can buy the one way air ticket from hometown to  Airport, we will help out student to buy the ticket (if asked by the student). Usually we are sending MBBS/MD students to Uzbekistan in a group. As the student will arrive at Tashkent airport we will provide airport Pickup.

History Tashkent State Medical Institute: (1931-1990)

  • In 1931, the medical faculty was renamed into a medical institute.
  • By 1932, the institute had 1099 students and 177 teachers (25 professors, 26 associate, and 104 assistant).
  • In 1935, the Tashkent Medical Institute was known as the Central Asian Medical Institute.
  • By 1937, the institute grew to 1,400 students.
  • By (1941-1945) During the Second World War, more than 10 evacuation hospitals opened up at the institute.
  • In 1944, Y.K. Muminov was appointed director of the institute. By this time, Tashkent Medical Institute had trained 2,122 physicians and out of them 1,630 were sent to the frontlines of the Second World War.
  • In 1945, Z. Zokhidov was appointed new director of the institute. During this period, a six-year curriculum with refined educational programs was created. The institute was also better equipped with new specialized medical technology.
  • By 1946, the institute had totaled 2,752 students with classes conducted in both the Uzbek and Russian language. By 1953, the number of students increased to 3,158.
  • In 1954, the department of dentistry was established.
  • Since 1962, students from Asia, Africa and Latin America were welcomed to study at the Institute.
  • In 1960-1967, the evening department of the medical faculty was opened. In 1961, the institute had 4,000 students, of whom 2,395 were indigenous women.
  • In 1972, more than 10 thousand students were engaged in the 2nd medical, pediatric, sanitary-hygienic, and dental faculties and 1,500 enrolled for 1 course.
  • In 1972, students of the pediatric faculty of Tashkent State Medical Institute moved to the Central Asian Institute of Pediatrics, now the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute.
  • In 1961, in Tashkent State Medical Institute there were 22 students from foreign countries, in 1980 their number exceeded 170.
  • By the end of 1980, the institute had 1,042 faculty members, including 6 academicians, 24 Uzbek doctors, 90 doctors of medical sciences and professors, 207 candidates of medical sciences, associate professors, and students.

In 1990, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan established two medical institutes on the basis of the old and new buildings of Tashmi in Tashkent: the first Tashkent State Medical Institute and the second Tashkent State Medical Institute. At the first institute were faculties of Medical and Dentistry and at the second institute were faculties of medical and sanitary-hygienic.

Branch Office and training centers of TMA:

In March 1992, the first branch of the Tashkent State Medical Institute in the city of Urgench was established. As well, in the city of Fergana, at Fergana State University, a Sanitary and Hygienic Faculty was created. Later this center became a branch of the Second Tashkent State Medical Institute. In 1998, the faculty expanded to become a center. Both centers began training general practitioners in 1998. In 2000, a Master’s program was created for the training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical staff and medical specialists.

Tashkent Medical Academy TMA:

On July 19, 2005, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan I.A. Karimova mandated Decree No. UP-3629 establishing present-day Tashkent Medical Academy. Accordingly, this would improve the quality of training of highly qualified medical personnel throughout the nation through an effective organization of the educational process by abolishing the separate First and Second Medical Institutes to form a unified institute with new content based on the latest educational technologies for future professional medical practices.

Main tasks of the TMA Academy:

  • ensuring preparation of highly qualified medical personnel for quality improvement of health care being provided to population and participation in improvement of the structure of healthcare system;
  • coordination and methodological guidance of higher medical education facilities as the leading educational facility in the country on education, postgraduate education of medical personnel, as well as performing research works in health care and public health, shaping healthy life styles;
  • Identification of perspective directions for education of medical personnel, shaping preventive direction in the work of physicians taking into consideration ecological changes in the environment;
  • Through the Decision of the State Testing Center at the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan the Tashkent Medical Academy is given the status “Higher Education Facility” (Certificate №8 as of 31st of March, 2008)

Education-pedagogical activities:

  • There are general medicine, medico-pedagogical, medico-prophylactic and Higher Nursing faculties at the academy, in total there are 4662 students. There are 735 postgraduates on 46 directions and 205 physicians are being educated on 20 directions through residency.
  • Education of highly qualified specialists is being performed on 58 Chairs, at the Center of Acquiring Practical Skills, OSCE (Objectively structured Clinical Examination) Center, 2 training laboratories, School of Public Health, Information-Resource Center, Demonstration-Training Stomatology Complex, at 2 demonstration-training modules of Rural Doctor’s Station.
  • The main clinical bases of the Academy are 1st, 2nd and 3rd Clinics, Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Centers, Republican and City Clinical Hospitals.

Research Activities by TMA:

  • Since 2005 there are prepared 64 Doctors of Sciences, 388 Ph.D.
  • There is created coordination council “On Coordination and Monitoring of Research Works being implemented under grant on Ecology and Human Health”.
  • The main research unit of the academy is the Central Research Laboratory (CRL). There are going on 25 projects, out of them 18 are applied, 3 – fundamental, 2 – innovation, 2 are for youth. 160 staff members are involved to implementation of grants.
  • There are 7 specialized scientific councils functioning at the academy.
