Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine was founded in Xi’an in 1952. It was upgraded to the Shaanxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1959 and relocated to the ancient capital of Xianyang in 1961. In 2015, it was renamed Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine. The university began recruiting master’s students in 1978 and became one of the first institutions in China to grant master’s degrees in 1981.

The clinical medicine program spans six years, including the first year of Mandarin (Chinese) and the last year of a clinical internship.

The annual MBBS fees at Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine for Pakistani students are approximately 750,000 PKR, including tuition and accommodation. This pricing does not include meals and travel expenses. The per-month food expenses are approximately 40,000 PKR.

Freshmen Scholarship:

The Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine offers various types of Scholarships for international students. The Freshman Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship offered in the first year to students who have achieved an excellent score in senior high school.

Campus Facilities:

The university comprises two campuses, the South Campus and the North Campus. Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine provides on-campus housing (four students per room) for international students. The school has a library, study area, gym, and playgrounds.

Accommodation Facilities:

Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine (SNTCM) has an on-campus dormitory for international students. The dormitory is fully furnished, and four students are sharing a room. The student apartments have amenities such as private toilets, air conditioners, and washing machines. The Dormitory has facilities for a Public Kitchen, Public Laundry, and a drying room as well.

Faculty and Students:

The Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine currently has 5,793 faculty members (including two directly affiliated hospitals), including 1,204 full-time teachers, 736 of whom hold intermediate or senior associate professional titles or higher. The university also boasts 1,083 master’s supervisors, 63 doctoral supervisors, 43 part-time doctoral supervisors, and eight postdoctoral supervisors.

Currently, the university has a full-time student enrollment of 17,069, including 14,080 undergraduates, 2,989 master’s and doctoral students, and international students. 

Eligibility Criteria:

Foreign students applying for the Clinical Medicine (MBBS) Program at Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine for the September 2025 intake must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport.
  • The applicant must have achieved a minimum of 60% marks overall in Senior High School/WAEC/HSSC.
  • The age limit to apply is 16-25. Students under 16 are not accepted. 
  • Applicants must be healthy (physically and mentally).
  • Applicant must be fluent in English.

HSK Policy:
