MOE-Listed vs. MOE Non-Listed Universities:
What make them the two categories different from each other? The English-medium MBBS program and the bilingual clinical medicine program vary in a number of ways, including course structure, duration, length, and Medium of study.
The primary difference is that the medium of study in MOE-Listed Universities is English while NON-MOE Listed Universities is Chinese. The basic difference is described below, before getting admission for MBBS (English-taught) Program always check it:

Course Duration:
The MBBS Program in China comprises six years of Medical study, the first 5 years would be the MBBS course work study and the last year would be the internship which would held in the affiliated hospital of the university.
MBBS Program Intake:
Most Chinese Universities are offering MBBS (English-taught) Program for September Fall Intake that starts most probably from March, very few Universities in China are offering a Spring Intake that starts most probably from October. Depending on the university, the enrollment period could be different.
MBBS (English-taught) Fee for international students 2026-2027:
The annual MBBS tuition and accommodation fee ranges between 35,000 RMB ($5000) and 45,000 RMB ($6,500) at MOE-Listed universities that uses English as the medium of instruction. This fee cost does not includes the food and traveling expenses, the average fee cost for food is approximately 1000RMB ($150) per month (may fluctuates based on the location of the university).

Only above 43 universities in China are qualified to teach MBBS degrees in English and are authorized to admit foreign students in English Medium.
Eligibility Criteria:
International students must follow the Admission criteria to apply for the Clinical Medicine (MBBS) Program at MOE-approved Universities authorize to teach in English medium.
- The CSCA Exam is Mandatory to apply (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) at MOE-Listed Universities.
- Foreign students must be under the age of 16-25 years.
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and valid foreign passport holders.
- IELTS and TOEFL are not required.
- Students must have a minimum of 60-70% in Senior High School/grade 12/WAEC, or A-levels.
- Students must be healthy and fluent in English.
- Some Universities are also taking interviews from international students before the issuance of acceptance letter.

The annual tuition hostel cost for the universities is about 35,000 RMB ($5000), which is approximately equivalent to 1.4 millions in PKR.
Among all MOE-Listed Universities, Shihezi University is one of the first medical schools in China to have launched an English-taught medical degree program for international students in 2002, with the assistance of foreign experts. Be Aware of MBBS Scholarship Policies:
There are no fully-funded scholarships for MBBS Programs in China. Scholarship-promoting agents that are not approved by the University mislead students. It is required to avoid seasonal agents and misdirection’s. Any financial allowance or stipend offered by a Chinese institution is explicitly stated on the acceptance letter. If an agent promises a scholarship, ask for a formal statement on the acceptance letter.
While certain Chinese Medical Universities offers different types of Scholarships ranging from 5,000 RMB to 15,000 RMB at the end of every academic year based on the academic performance, Chinese language proficiency, class attendance, behavior, and participation in extracurricular activities of the student.
